Very enjoyable!

I have to admit that this is my first Thelonious Monk album. I have enjoyed this album immensely. The music just flows with excitement. From a sonic stand point I have nothing to compare it to directly. All I say is that the sound of the DSD256 sound open, detailed, smooth with very good tonal density It's a winner IMHO.

Stunningly great music and transfer by HDTT. Had the vinyl for years but this DSD256 has made it rise to my favourite work by Monk.

I love Thelonious Monk and Monk's Dream and Monk and Trane (both from HDTT) are my best Monk recordings. Excellent recording/transfer of great performances.

The place to start with Monk

Among several outstanding albums by prolific jazz composer and innovative pianist Thelonius Monk, this is a terrific place to start with the best recording and sound. He’s backed by one of his very best quartets on four of his original compositions and a cover. Because of his creativity, style and skill you might not notice at first that the two other songs (Body and Soul and Just a Gigolo) are piano solos and fit right in among the quartet pieces. The sound throughout is clearer, fuller and higher resolution than the SACD version, sounding like it is playing from the reel to reel tape.

DSD256, DSD128 & DSD64 Direct Stream Digital formats are only playable on compatible hardware and software.
24bit 352.8kHz PCM Flac (DXD) DXD is only playable on compatible hardware and software.
