A splendid transfer or the most proficient guitarist ever making these pieces sound great. Recommended with enthusiasm.

First, my bias is that John Williams is the most technically adept guitarist of our age and perhaps or all times. Nobody plays with a finer touch or more effortless precision. I have played the classical guitar for over 50 years and believe I have heard a good cross-section, so I will stand by that. That out of the way, let me say that the 20-year-old Williams outdoes himself here. He makes almost every one of these pieces sound great, even though I know that they don't reach the heights from extended exposure to them, and lots of hours playing them. I would recommend these to anybody who has ever played a guitar or even been in the same room with one.

CD of John Williams' Sor Studies

Although expensive, I am happy to have this CD version of the original vinyl LP, which I still have after some 50 years. There were 2 issues that would have taken this CD to an even higher level of quality considering the price. 1) When playing along with Estudio V (track 5), I found the track was not playing back at standard pitch; A = 440. It was a bit too sharp (#). I had to retune my guitar to match the recording. I can't imagine JW not doing this when he recorded these tracks in the studio. 2) When I checked tags on the WAV files the Title Tag was labeled "Track 5", More appropriately this should be the opus name (even though it already appears in the filename). I say this, since there is already a Trk Tag provided separately in the standard.
