The most famous track from the album is "Moon River", a wistful ballad with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. Hepburn performs the song in the film, accompanying herself on guitar, and it won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. The theme became a signature piece for Mancini and is widely considered one of the greatest movie songs of all time.
