Romantic Ormandy
Those Philadelphia strings give Rachmaninoff his full due. This is one of Ormandy's greatest recordings. The third movement (adagio) is gorgeous and HDTT gives it to you in wonderful sound. I love the nearly complete version with only a few minor cuts. How romantic can you get Try this recording and you will see.

¿Por qué no ponen la fecha de la edición de HDTT?
Me gustaría saber de que año es la remasterización que hizo HDTT. A tenor del primer comentario de aficionados, parece del 2017, pero no se dice en ninguna parte.

A great one in a great performance with great sound
Of the many, many recordings I have of this work, this one instantly went to the top of the list. Ormandy and his orchestra play this as if their souls depended on it. And the HDTT sonics in DXD are Irreproachably audiophile-excellent! All the others, from Boult to Gergiev, many of them superb, are now sharing second place. Why listen to anything except the best of the best?
Ormandy's Rach Sym 2: Hear 'em again for the first time!
"The World's Greatest Orchestra" (as Rachmaninoff called it) was never truer than in Ormandy's 1962 Philadelphia recording of Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2. In early May 2021 I told someone, "But on CD it's in serious need of a good pressing." (The Sony Odyssey one is vague without detail or presence.) And, lo! two weeks later HDTT released its pressing. I got the cheap one, on CD without a jewel box. And the quality I literally just listened to it. SENSATIONAL! Such rich bass, so much inner detail, such presence. So fitting for one of Ormandy's supreme interpretations. Yes, there never were strings like the Philadelphia under Ormandy, but that's also true of the brass. What a journey! If anyone wants to know "What makes a symphony", let them learn the answer with this recording.
