Jazz Noir IPI - Pure DSD
Film Noir and jazz have been intertwined going back a good 75 years. Many musicians and listeners have been fascinated by the music accompanying noir films. The most prominent of these films, “Elevator To The Gallows,” was famously interpreted and played by Miles Davis. The ground-breaking music is brilliantly integral to the mood and message of the film. The analog tape here under discussion, Jazz Noir, is an homage to such films played by modern, world-class musicians utilizing piano, bass, drums, and trumpet. The music is gorgeous and at times haunting. The musicians are complemented by the very natural sound presentation due in no small part to the recording environment and custom equipment used to capture the event.

Jazz Noir IPI
My favourite album. Excellent. The sound quality of the DSD is astonishing. I wonder why DSD doesn't get more attention in the audiophile community.

Fine Jazz
This a mostly excellent recording of jazz versions of noirish film scores. The instruments are clear, the playing is first rate. My only complaint is the drums which sound a bit dulled. Mike placement? Drums not tuned at their best? Not sure, but the only minor flaw in this otherwise wonderful recording. I also like that it is a recent recording using modern equipment rather than remastering older material that may have had recording compromises.

Così così
Registrazione molto buona come tutte quelle di IPI , però appena nella media come esecuzione

Not to be missed!
This Pure DSD256 release is a transfer from Jonathan Horwich's master tape to DSD256 with no PCM processing. And the sound quality is stunningly good. How Jonathan does it is a mystery to me, perhaps the excellent acoustics of the venue, perhaps the custom equipment he uses. I'm simply reveling in the incredibly natural and lifelike sounds I'm hearing from these four musicians on stage. This IPI release is another pure treat, and not to be missed!
