Excellent Tape Transfer + Excellent Recording = 100% Satisfaction
I have listened to quite a few renditions of Rodrigo's Concerto for Guitar, but this recording at the direction of Argenta and played by Yepes, to me, stands out in the crowd. That, and the quality of the recording is to me excellent, makes this a 5/5 purchase alone. The "Nights in the Garden of Spain" is also very good, but I'm still partial to Ormandy's and Entremont's recording.

Argenta, Yepes and Soriano
Rodrigo's "Concerto for guitar and orchestra" is the well-known "Concierto de Aranjuez", performed by Narciso Yepes. Falla's "Noches en los jardines de España", performed by pianist Gonzalo Soriano, all conducted by Ataulfo Argenta in 1957. Another good edition of HDTT that rescues works that seemed lost.

Audiophile Favourite
This recording was one of Special Merit in the list of Super LPs of the late Harry Pearce of “The Absolute Sound”. It has been hard to get in the digital era, so this transfer is especially welcome. Guitar concertos are notoriously difficult to record, with the guitar very much out-decibelled by the full symphony orchestra, and on this occasion the guitar does sound ten feet tall in the balance to compensate for its lack of volume. This is not a concern in de Falla’s “Noches en los Jardines de España”. Set against this is the rich, slightly dark overall of the recording. The work of the engineers in 1957 needs no apologies after all that time. Performances are, not unexpectedly, authentically Spanish, and among the best around. Narciso Yepes is perhaps a bit fresher in approach than he was when he re-recorded the work for Deutsche Grammophon, and Gonzalo Soriano paints a picture of very elegant Spanish Gardens. The recording is also one of the too few to feature conductor Ataúlfo Argenta who died only a few months after this recording was made, aged 44. This was a most regrettable loss of a very talented musician.

Sunny Days; Lush Nights
Delightful reappearance of two standards, restored from vinyl with outstanding detail in vintage sonics.

Worth having if you are a fan of Vinyl
This is better than I expected for remastering from a Vinyl, except for that its sound volume level seems not quite adequate.
