Sibelius Symphony No. 2
I have the Chesky LP, this transfer is much better, especially on the string tone.

Greater Detail and Greater Depth than the First Chesky CD
This Barbirolli Sibelius was my first HDTT purchase and it's quite good. Having heard only the first of the two Chesky CD releases, the HDTT offers a lot more detail. In fact, it's quite substantial. There's a lot more hall acoustic in the HDTT as well but I don't know if this was due to processing or simply was not captured by Chesky. I do wish HDTT provided detailed source, capture, processing and conversion information. If a decision is to be made between purchasing one of the Chesky CDs or the HDTT, the latter is now obvious to me.

Barbirolli's RPO Sibelius 2
Warner has recently made all their Barbirolli Sibelius performances available in hi-res, and none of that stuff is anywhere near as good as this performance here. The RPO plays better than the Halle, and this was recorded in good sound before the late period lethargy kicked in. A must have.

Better that the Chesky CD
I have this on CD for many years and always enjoyed it. It was a real thrill to find this on HDTT and the sound does not disappoint.
