Excellent Transfer & excellent music
One of my favorite jazz recordings… musically great and an exceptionally well recorded album. The PCM96 version is ok, the DSD64 better, up to now the Esoteric DSD64 was the best but now lost first place to HDTT! Very natural sounding, a pleasure to listen to.

Top-shelf transfer
This is the best version of We Get Requests that exists - end of story. It sounds like the raw analogue feed coming out of the open reel tape deck without any intermediate digital step - from a 15 ips 2-track tape, no less. The K2 CD is in no way comparable, being extremely flat and two-dimensional with the treble cranked up to 11 to create the illusion of more detail (even though loads of true resolution has straight up not even been captured by the JVC K2 A/D converter vs. the HDTT transfer in pure DSD256 captured using the Merging Hapi). I genuinely have no idea how the previous reviewer came to the conclusion that they are in any way comparable, let alone the K2 version being better. Baffling.

Never hyped up, utterly neutral, beautifully transparent
What an excellent transfer! Clear, clean, transparent. This release is just marvelous in the clarity of the instruments, harmonic overtones, leading edge definition, and snap. Yet is retains the virtues of outstanding analog sound. If you have one of the Japanese SHM-SACD releases, you may not need this release. But if all you have is CD, then this is definitely a release you need to have on your "purchase next" list. I read the comment about this release sounding "as if there was a blanket thrown over the speakers/headphones" but I cannot relate that at all. From the very first notes of the very first track, I was struck by the utter transparency and tremendous openness of the sound in this release. Listening once again, my thoughts are: Never hyped up, utterly neutral, beautifully transparent.

Not up to the usual HDTT standards
I've bought many HDTT releases and the vast majority of them have been sonic nirvana. Unfortunately this release misses the target. I own the Lim K2 HD mastered CD and it clearly is a better release of this material. The HDTT version sounds as if there was a blanket thrown over the speakers/headphones. The clarity is just not there. As a result, it seems to suck the life out of the music. As an older audiophile this shortfall is readily apparent. I was hoping for more from HDTT as I really enjoy listening to this album. My recommendation is to pass on this release and look for the K2 version. You won't be sorry especially if you have decent playback equipment
