A Superior Analog Recording
Helen Merrill was a great and often vastly underrated jazz singer, a "musician's musicians", and this recording is a superior representation of her artistry. Spacious, well balanced, and finely detailed, the recording is also superbly engineered. One can make the argument that, as good as many current digital recordings are, they rarely produce the level of emotional and spiritual satisfaction that a superior analog recording produces. Spend five minutes in the presence of this recording, and you will understand why.
