István Kertész’s recording of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 in D minor, Op. 70 with the London Symphony Orchestra is widely regarded as one of the finest interpretations of this work.
Kertész highlights the symphony’s dark and brooding character, particularly in the opening movement. He captures the emotional tension and stormy dynamics that define the work. Kertész’s recording was made for Decca during the 1960s, known for its excellent engineering standards at the time.
