This album was recorded with The Ahmad Jamal Trio and a string orchestra. It could have been titled "Ahmad Jamal with Strings". The tracks are noteworthy due to the integration of strings with a pure jazz style of the era, resulting in an intriguing dissonant sound. Despite this, Jamal, with a background in classical music and his use of space and dynamics, along with his tight, intricate arrangements, was a big influence. He skillfully executes the performance, and the other members, Israel Crosby and Vernell Fournier, also demonstrate exceptional musical proficiency.
