Genial graciousness and excellent sound quality
Steven M. has given a perfect summary of this album with which I completely agree. There is a genial graciousness to Bruno Walter's way with Mozart that is always appealing -- one can simply relax into the warmth of Walter's interpretations. Francescatti delivers a masterful performance. The transfer from LP is yet again a bit of Bob Witrak magic, once more delivering great sonics in the high resolution transfers to which I'm listening.

A great performance at last revived
Francescatti plays wonderfully and Walter's conducting is both vigorous and warm. Now you can hear how expertly he balances the orchestra and the excellent playing of the woodwinds. This is vastly better than the Columbia version. This one actually sounds better the more you turn up the sound (within reasonable limits, of course). There is a tiny amount of "glassiness" in the strings at times, but given the vintage of the recording, and the strength of the performance, this is easily accepted. The first CD I had of this in fact had noises like someone throwing garbage cans interrupting one of the movements. Of course, that is gone here. Great work.
