Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 Mravinsky
The legendary album, often hailed as one of the finest performances by Mravinski, has made a triumphant return, imbued with remarkably enhanced tonality. Its astounding reinterpretation reflects a profound depth of artistry, preserving the maestro's original essence while introducing a fresh auditory experience. This album is highly recommended, promising a harmonious blend of nostalgia and novelty that beckons to both ardent admirers of Mravinski and those new to his enduring musical legacy.

This Is The One...
Back in 1962 I was given by DG Mravinsky’s versions of Tchaikovsky’s Symphonies Nos 4, 5 & 6 and I played them back to back twice in my 5 hour Sunday Night Classical Music Show on Sydney Radio. The Number 4 is great, but No 6 stood out and then some. It’s still my go-to version. No other version in the intervening years comes near it to trigger my complete emotional involvement. Mravinsky and his Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra were let out of Russia to perform in both London and Vienna. To the best of my knowledge the No 4 was recorded by Decca for DG at the Brent Town Hall, better known as the Wembley Town Hall (15/9/60). This is also the top version in my opinion. Nos 5 (10/11/60) & No 6 (11/11/60) were recorded in Vienna by DG in the Large Hall at the Musikverein. These recordings are still in the DG catalogue to this day. However, this release of the No 6 by HDTT has been really brought to life in this very fine restoration.
Definitive version in perfect sound.
If there is such a thing, this is a definitive version of this symphony. And the sound is so good you could take musical dictation from the DVD Audio disc.Truly a perfect marriage of performance and sound.

1960's DG sound
I had got 192kHz 24 bit data made by EBS from e-onkyo. I have just compared HDTT and EBS. EBS is no noise, smoother and more emotional than HDTT. I think HDTT is nearly original sound of 1960's DG. I like both.
